My Time As Journey-woman: Writ, B-Day, Winter Market, Birka, And Gulf Wars

My Journey: Journey-Woman

Castle Wars November 23, 2024

Right after getting home from Iceland, I was given a Writ for the Order of the Laurel. During The Ceremony, Mistress Ximena Yannez de Talavera had me relinquish the belt of an Apprentice and spend the time between my Elevation to the Laurel as a Journeywoman.

I was an awesome day shared with even more awesome people. I would go on to spend the year not just trying to rebuild my life in a new home but fighting to keep the shop open.

It would also be spent with the help of Mistress Ximena and Mistress Christianna MacGrain, organizing a Vigil and Elevation Ceremony. Several other people wanted to give their time and skills to celebrate this moment.

Winter Market December 14, 2024

The holiday vending season finished with a trip to a winter market. One of my favorite events every year, this year's was even more spectacular, with numerous arts and artisans on display.

Yule

With so many other things going on in my life, I found the time to celebrate Yule with a tree of my own, decorated with glass ornaments from my shop. Unfortunately, I was sick and missed both my birthday party and the Family Holiday Party.

Yule Tree Thank you Mistress Christianna MacGrain

Medieval Times January 3, 2025

This was also the year I turned 50. I celebrated the day a bit late with some newfound friends at Medieval Times.

Lykania

There was lots of time before the show to enjoy the set and the gift shop.

As part of the fun I was made a Huntress by the King.

I enjoyed some mead with the entertainment.

It was just a fun outing and something I have been wanting to do for a while.

If you ever find yourself at the show, just let yourself have fun and embrace the silliness.

Time to Go Home

Medieval Times

The new year also brought some snow. Which meant it was time to take some pictures.

I was able to add more work space with this additional building.

My two workshops.

Birka

I headed off to A Market Day at Birka during one of those snowstorms

Snow Before Leaving for Birka

My favorite thing about Birka is the Clam Chowder and the Snow.

I always had work between the drive, the setup, long days trapped at the booth, and the teardown.

My Booth

I took with me to Birka some works out of my temporary shop. These pieces were inspired by my early trip to Greece and my recent trip to the British Museum.

This year I did not get to spend much time away from my own booth but many of the people there made sure I did not go without food and drink.

In the end I had to take my snow pictures and then hit the road for a long over night drive home.

But not before more chowder.

Birka was not the only big event I went to this year

Gulf Wars

I also got to spend the week and Gulf Wars.

The week went by way too fast. One of the other awesome things from the war was receiving, as a gift, a very awesome necklace.

Lykania, with the super awesome necklace I received.

Ùlfur

I added this mess to my life. This is Ulfur, my GSD/Husky Mix, who is my new show assistant and shop guard.

I also added a merch section to the website that includes some Clan Blue Feather Merch.

Blue Feather Garden Flag

With every thing going on I had to show my support for my northern friends. Elbows Up.

Elbows Up

Despite a string of shop problems I did get some jewelry made.

I took Ulfur to his first Event.

I spent a good deal of time in my yard over the summer with the dog.

My Yard

As fall started I began the 100 day 100 through challenge with my spears.

This was a year of protesting, the year my daughter graduated high school, and there was always some time for events, particularly when the wolf can go.

As August fell upon us it was also time to really start pulling the Vigil and Ceremony Together. No worries there many friends helping this happen.

Ùlfur

Thank You All. I Love You. Ulfur says he might not eat you.
