MDATS Day 10 Part II: Last Full Day
My Journey, Glass, Skinny Dipping, Pizza, Night Life…on last full day.
11/14 /2024 Iceland
With dog sledding behind us I stoped by Reykjavík Glass.
Of course this time of year they were not open so I just took pictures of the outside.
Glass Pots
I did not stay long. I had plans that included a trip to the best hot springs, so I headed back to the road.
After the Hvalfjörður Tunnel if found my self back in Borgarnes. I stoped at the N1 Borgarnesi.
My Car at N1 Borgarnesi.
Since having a hamburger here, I have wanted to try the pizza. It tasted as good as it smelled—just a good basic pizza. I have not been disappointed yet with gas station food.
On the way to the hot springs, I passed Borgarbyggð and another waterfall. In both cases, I tried to find a good vantage point for pictures, but I was unsuccessful.
Once I went to the Hot Spring parking lot, the weather was getting damp and cold. The rocks to cross were partially under water, so crossing without putting a foot in the water was difficult. When I got to the crossing, people were deciding whether to cross. They chose not to take the water crossing and returned to their cars, leaving me the place all to myself. I took the plunge and only got one foot a little wet.

My Clothes at Landbrotalaug Hot Springs
Off went the clothes, and in the spring I went. I stayed here for a bit cause the water was nice and the air was not.
This is the messy one to get to but it worth it. Glad I came and did it again.
Landbrotalaug Hot Springs
On the way back to the main road, I took a few pictures of the area around the hot spring. Then, I was back on the road, heading to the city.
Now, I was heading back the way I came as I headed back to the city. This time, I was able to get a better picture of the unnamed falls.
And once again through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel.
The car was packed, and I was cleaned up, so I headed out on the town to window shop and find a place to have dinner.

Back in Reykjavik, with my bags all organized for the next morning, I headed out to window shop and explore the town before going to the gay bar to end the night. If I could find one, I planned on getting a wool sweater.
I had the opportunity to see some of the glass work form Reykjavík Glass.
Reykjavík Glass
The theme was all about ice and cats. There were many of these icicles and a few yule cats.
After looking at many restaurants, I went to the Lebowski for a hamburger and fries. Iceland does American food better than Americans.
After dinner, I headed back to Sundhöllin for a swim. I had my eyes out for the northern lights, but it was too overcast to see them.
I went back to hotel to change then of to Kíkí Queer Bar. It was cold out but not windy, and it was a short walk, so I dressed lightly to avoid being hot in the bar.
I ended up sharing a table with some local men and another tourist. We watched the karaoke together, and we each took turns buying drinks.
New Friends
It was getting late, and I had a early morning at the Blue Lagoon scheduled, so it was time to go.
Me leaving Kíkí Queer Bar
When I started to walk back to my hotel, I realized I had misjudged the weather. It was quite windy, and the frigid air was now pelting me in the face with ice.
Back at the hotel, I was warned that there may be cancellations for the flights tomorrow due to weather.
I secretly wished to be snowed in.
