“Vikings: Warriors Of The Sea” at Fernbank
My Journey
The last Saturday of the year, we visited the Fernbank Museum in Atlanta,GA to see the “Vikings: Warriors Of The Sea” exhibit.
There were lots of kids, which is to be expected as Fernbank is geared to kids. It was a very busy day.
The largest upbeats in the exhibit were the reproductions of a longboat and a rune stone.
I was excited to see these coins in the exhibit. It made me feel good about the ones we make in the shop. It was also cool to see this cross that looks very similar to one that was provided for me to build a custom piece around.
This replica cup was one of the coolest things there and it was just a drop in the bucket of all the gold and silver work that was featured.
Don’t get me wrong, there were tools, weapons, and armor to see, but for me the best part was all the jewelry.
There was not a lot of glass or beads to be seen, but what few pieces that were present were a good representation of Norse beads. A few reminded me of the ones I make.
I used the visit to practice and experiment with the new action camera I received as a joint B-day and Yule Gift.
All in all it was a fun little excursion.
LOL
Here is some of the work I have done and been apart of so you can see the similarities.
Happy New Year
