My Journey

I was able to pick up a set of used dies from James Coffman. These are Guthrum / Danelaw.

These penny size coins may be simple, but they come out nice. Like all of my coins, they can be struck in .999 silver or in a variety of other metals.

At the start of the year, I commissioned James Coffman to make a Meridian Cross Die for striking award medallions. The coins were funded by the populace of the Kingdom of Meridies. The supporters of the project also donated 15 of these coins to the Kingdom. So far, 5 have been delivered, 5 more are waiting to be delivered, and I still need to make 5 more.

The ultimate goal is to sell $60 of these coins, which is what it takes to fully fund the dies and the coins. I need to sell 40 more to hit that goal.

With so many coin dies in my collection, I decided to make a piece inspired by a piece from Finnish Grave 56. I made two sets of the beads for Coffman, who makes my dies, and three sets for sale in the shop. One of the sets was made with stamps that were made by Coffman. The two big medallions are the two largest silver pieces I have made.

The final silver version of the design is one of the pieces I am proud to have finished in 2023.

We were able to visit some Viking coins at the Fernbank Museum here in Atlanta, GA as part of the “Vikings: Warriors of the Sea” exhibit.
