MDATS Day 4: York

My Journey: York

11/8/2024 England

My Train

The train ride was uneventful. I spent most of it working on my presentation, which was supposed to be submitted already. Sorry, Heather.

11/8/2024 York England

Arrived at York Railway Station as things were getting dark. I dragged myself and my luggage across town on foot to save on expenses. I’m not sure it was worth it, as it was quite a walk, but mostly, I was just tired.

York (YRK)

As I made my way to the Holiday Inn in York City Centre, an IHG Hotel where I was staying; I took pictures of the city walls and whatever else I came across.

I love so much about the city, from the river to the walls. Even as I trudged my way to the hotel dragging three bags in tow I could not help but enjoy myself.

Clifford's Tower, York

As I walked to the hotel, I passed The Tower, which I love so much. It was the first thing I went out to take pictures of. Then, I explored the city a little more, but the light was gone and my tummy was hungry.

I got some pizza at Ali G’s for dinner. There was not a lot in the area to pick from and the thought of eating at a bar did not cross my mind. Ali’s food was filling, but I would have loved a sit down at a pub. After eating, I headed to the Hilton for a conference meet and greet. I concluded my day by exploring the city, while also feeling that some time in bed was very much needed.

Clifford's Tower, York

The Tower and surrounding area is quiet at night, which led me to think the city was that way. I did enjoy the night stroll.

I spent a fair amount of time walking the area right around the tower, unknowingly missing most of the night life with the many bars.

River Ouse

After wandering about for a bit, I ended up heading back to the hotel to finish up the final edits of the presentation.

Tips and Lessons Learned:

The walk form train station to city center is doable, but only marginally worth it.

Make sure your photos are storing GPS information.

Enjoy the night life.

Thank You
