Story Beads

From Furnace To Flame: A Story In Glass

These Norse treasure bead strands are inspired by the ones found at archeological sights, but they have a modern twist. I take into consideration the life and likes of the individual who will own them into account as I am designing them. The first one I made was for myself. I have since made three more. I enjoy doing these even if they do take a lot of time and energy to make.

I have done them with charms I acquired or ones provided by the person who commissioned the piece. I then select beads that further tell the individual’s story. I have done them to reflect pride colors, school colors, and SCA group colors. I also try to select bead styles that reflect things about the person such as gemstones from a particular location, or bead designs that have specific history or meaning. I, for example, put eye beads into mine that are meant to look like wolf eyes.
