Small Glass Smoothing Stone
These smoothing stones are made of furnace worked glass. The glass is soda lime glass (COE 96) soft glass. We used Kugler and Reichenbach colors to give the glass its color. These stone are meant for cold working materials such as linen. These are small, measuring under 2 inches in diameter and less than 1 inch high. They are randomly shaped. Since we used a handmade crucible to melt glass, there may be some ceramic material captured in the glass. As these are handmade using simple tools like those that were used in ancient Rome, there will be variations and imperfections in the object.
These are made off the punty on a marveling table. There will be no punty mark.
