This mosaic plate is made with chips of blue, red, and white glass fused together and slumped into a mold. It measures 7 3/4 inches wide and is 6mm thick. It is a shallow tray. This piece is inspired by one in the British Museum, Roman Empire (18022019). The example is described as a “Dish of mosaic glass with a blue, red and white checkerboard design.” It dates to around 25 BC-25 AD. The example is said to be “from Turin (Italy), probably made in Egypt.”
