Mycenaean Inspired Complex Melon Bead Necklace Necklace
This necklace is inspired by a melo necklace. The original was made of paste glass (Faience) and dates to the 14th-13th Century BCE it is in the National Archeologial Museum in Athens, Greece. This one was made form recycled stain glass scrap as wrapped beads. The original is blue gray in color and this one is a bright opalescent sky blue there is variation between each bead depending on the scrap used. The original is one long strand. I did this now as two strands one of 60 beads one of 67 beads. The beads are strung on modern stainless steel wire and finished with modern Sterling Silver findings for durability.
The 60 bead necklace is 20 1/5 inches long
The 67 bead necklace is 24 1/4 inches long
The 12 bead necklace is 42 inches lone and is a continues loop
