Glass Hnefatafl Set (Viking Chess)
This Hnefatafl board and pieces are inspired by the Norse board game. While glass game pieces have been found, these are of my own design. The pieces are flame-worked of COE 104 soft glass. The board is glass paint (enamel) painted on to Bullseye COE 90 glass and then encased under a second sheet of Bullseye. The piece is fused together in the kiln. The design on the board is inspired by the designs on glass beads found at Ribe. The board is 6mm thick and 6 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. The pieces are about 3/8 inch diameter and 1/2 inch tall. There is variation between pieces. The Current board has some flows in the enameling of the bords lines. While corrected the original flaws are visible under the new ones.
